EHLERS DANLOS SYNDROME
This 4 ftx 5ft piece is about the effects of the rare connective tissue disorder called Elhers Danlos Syndrome. Marked by flexibility and its multi-systemic impact on the body. Profoundly debilitating and so often invisible. This illness effects every part of the body, from joints to Organs. Born with this disorder I suffered speech delays and learn disabilities. This instilled a drive of always looking for new ways to express it all. It touches every part of my body and life.
The wheelchair represents my handicap, always present but not so obvious. My body may be broken. Yet my life is full teaching art to the community. Creating cakes for my family and friend . Through art my often lonely world becomes full.
